Who is Rawther?
Rawther is a credible and proud Islamic Community. The ancestors of Rawther in Kerala is the Turks came from the Empire of Automan Turkeys. They came to Tamilnadu through the royal path of Persia, Arabia, North India and Karnataka.
Nathathuvali, who was the ruler of a small country in Turkey became a Sufy anchorite and he travelled Arabia, Persia, North India and South India. Atlast he reached Thiruchirappally in Tamilnadu and settled there. He spreaded the Islam religion and the people who heared his talks became ready to accept the Islam and converted themselves into Muslims. The importent wing of converted Tamil Muslims are known as 'Rawthur' in Tamilnadu. Still there is a place in Tamilnadu known as 'Nathathuvaram'.
Some another people came to India from Afganisthan through Sindh and they are known as 'Pattans'.
In AD 1117, the King of Thekkumkoor invited Rawthur from Tamil Nadu for the comprehensive development of his country and get them. He gave 85 cent of land and built a mosque in this land at Chenganasseri. There is clear evidence for it. Before 900 years ago, they came to Kerala from Tamil Nadu through the amazing path of Sahyadri for trades and other several reasons. Unfortunately, there is no written history for them or purposefully hidden. 'Islamum Rawthermarude pinnitta 900 aandum' is a book written by Chunakkara Haneefa is one of the major reference to their history.
The language of Rawther who came to Kerala from Tamil Nadu had the influence of Arabi, Urudu, Persian, Turkey and Tamil. They became the dearest of Thiruvithamkoor and Thirikochi Empires and United states of Kerala. Marthanda Varma, the great emperor of Thiruvithamkoor asked the help of Rawther(Thulukkappada) to defeat his enemies and the great Empire Thiruvithamkoor was born by the help of Thulukkappada(Rawther).
There were so many credible personalities from Rawther community like Kakkazham Bava Haji, who was a great merchandiser and a great social reformer. London Times reported his death as 'The Pepper King Died'.
Major portion of Rawther is residing in 10 districts of Kerala - Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki and Palakkadu districts are very important. Rawther community spreaded Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur, Ernakulam and Kasargode districts also . Wayanad, Malappuram and Kannur are other districts where can see Rawther even if they are minus in population there. Rawther are the desiding factor of assembly election in near 60 constituencies of Kerala. That means, Rawther community is spreaded in 40 Thaluks of 13 Districts of Kerala.
