Mohammed Ismail mia khan Rawther, the nationalist face of muslim politics
In India, When compared to any other state, Tamil Muslims and Non Muslims are living peacefully in Tamil Nadu without any communal violence. Many claim this peacefulness is because Wahhabis movement did not spread much in South India. But truth is even South India also witnessed the Malabar rebellion Which is also called Moplah rebellion. The purpose of this revolt is to form an Islamic state in Madras State Kerala. After these types of Islamic Movements, unlike North India, South India (Madras States) continued to believe in secularism and maintained communal Harmony. This miracle is because of the one man “Muhammad Ismail” also popularly know by the title of “Quaid-e-Millat”
Mohammad Ismail was born in Tamil Nadu. He was the President of Madras presidency unit of muslim league. In 1946 Assembly elections, his league won many seats and become 2nd largest party after Indian National Congress.
Notably, Mohammad Ismail opposed Jinnah's policy of Partition. During Partition, North India was affected more but Madras presidency remained calm.
Many leaders credited Ismail for the peace and Communal Harmony that prevailed in South India during the period of independence
After the creation of Pakistan, Muslim league was divided into Pakistan Muslim League and Indian union Muslim League. Ismail became the first president of Indian union Muslim league.
After Partition, when the First Prime minister of Pakistan Liaquat Ali khan asked Ismail to come to Pakistan. But Ismail refused and asked Liaquat Ali khan to safeguard the other religions in Pakistan.
He was the first MP who gave his part of salary for defence.
He was the First leader in constituent assembly demanded to make TAMIL as a common language in the country.
I want an every Muslim leader in India to take him as a role model to strengthen the communal Harmony and secularism.
