Rawthers spiritual leader influence on chola empire

* Why two rawther brothers (ravuthar kumara swami) are considered as guardian for some sect of vellalar community ?

* Why some rawthers fight against naikar rule in madurai ?

* Why some leaders (Qaed e millath ismail sahib - founding president of IUML) from ravuthar community stood firmly for tamil language and people.

That remind me another origin theory of the community. 

During 9th century, Nathar shah (islamic preacher from turkmen tribes) reached chola empire with turkish horse traders.

Turkish traders used to have a trade post in Nagapattinam. Turks introduced nathir shah to horse warriors / horse care taking local community (there is some confusion regarding the religion of this community. Seems like they were buddists). Nathir shah stayed with the community in thiruchira palli and start spreading islamic teachings. Some of the families influenced by his teaching and accepted the new religion.

Turkish horse traders start marrying from newly converted families and thus formed a new community called thurukkar. Childrens born to turkish fathers and tamil mather called their father atha and mother amma respectively.

Newly formed community start horse trading and became integral part of tamil communities.

During the time of nathar shah, one of the chola prince killed pandian king and annexed all pandian lands. 

Entire tamilakam came under chola rule. One of the chola princess heared about nathar shah and start visiting him frequently. After the death of chola king, relegious leaders of kingdom asked queen to jump on the fire and they killed elder prince. Then crowned their puppet as king.

Chola princess with his younger brother escaped and stayed with nathar shah. When the chola prince reach the age, he overthrown the puppet king of religious leaders.

Religious leaders start spreading rumors about his religion due to his stay with muslim preacher. They asked him to do yagam to convert his religion. Princess always want to see him as king. So she didn't stop him from doing the yagam. After the princess death, her nephew build a small memorial for her. This tulukka  nachiar memorial became part of sri rangan temple later. 

After the decline of chola empire, many thurukkans moved to pandian capital and intermarried with tamil maravar. Pandians called this new tribe as rawthers.

Horse trade shifted from naga pattinam to kulashekara palayam diring the rule of kulashekara pandian. Still kulashekara palayam called as ravuthar palayam.

These are just stories passed on generations. Need to conduct more historical research.
